Deeper Meaning of TFH Muscle Testing
When learning the Touch For Health (TFH) 42 muscle sequence head to toe, we are mainly paying attention to the posture and possible physical discomfort caused by misalignment, or we are looking for a reactor/reactive muscle relationship. It is often very difficult for a student at the beginning of learning Touch for Health, to identify the structure-function relationship of all these muscles.
Dorothea herself found it took many years to discover the many interactions and interrelations of the body’s muscles structure. In particular, when seen from the physiotherapist’s point of view, where one divides muscles according to them being either “phasic”or “tonic”in nature or behaviour.
This Dorothea will be discussing and explaining, in addition to that Dorothea will delve deeper into the underlying meaning of the muscles and the body’s posture language, which expresses so much regarding our feelings and motivations.
Dorothea always encourages her students to not just test a muscle for its quality of being locked or unlocked, but what it actually means to the person, from all points of view – physically, yes, but also emotionally, motivationally, and mentally.
It is that aspect Dorothea will include into her presentation. These thoughts are not related to any metaphors that Mathew Thie shared; these are entity Dorothea’s observations and thought processes from her many years as a clinical practitioner and teacher. When we all pay close attention to the English language, we find so many fitting expressions, showing us the deeper unlaying emotional aspects of posture for the person.
